About Marija
Marija is the author of three novels. Her first The Lost Pages (Allen & Unwin), won The Australian/Vogel's Literary Award 2017 and was shortlisted for the 2017 Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction. She was named as a 2018 Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Australian Novelist. Her second novel, Exquisite Corpse (Ultimo Press) was shortlisted for the Davitt Award.
Her third novel Foreign Country will be published in June 2025, by Ultimo Press.
Marija’s short fiction, essays, and poetry have appeared in Meanjin, The Big Issue Fiction Edition, and Southerly.
She is currently completing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Melbourne, and is at work on her fourth novel.
Marija lives and works on the unceded lands of the Bunurong and Wurundjeri people.
